Who Qualifies For The Bursary Or College Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.

Applications at the moment are open and will shut on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to meet the subsequent criteria:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who comes from a house that has a combined gross family earnings that doesn't exceed R350 000 per annum.

• Individuals with disabilities qualify if their combined household cash flow doesn't exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients immediately qualify for funding and want not post any evidence of income.

*** here Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent citizens from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.

Applicants are reminded to deliver the proper Id Doc numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored of their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds individuals who are studying or intend to study in a general public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
